摘要:
A fan end bracket for a motorized fan assembly has a plurality of curvilinear tapered air passages. Each air passage includes a flow port, such that air being moved by a rotating fan assembly is directed through the air passages and the flow ports. A skeletal motor assembly is affixed to one side of the end bracket such that the motor shaft is disposed through a shaft aperture in the end bracket. A rotating fan member is affixed to the motor shaft adjacent to the other side of the end bracket. A shroud member is provided to shroud the rotating fan member so as to cause the flow of air to be directed through the air passages. A baffle plate is interposed between the rotating fan member and the end bracket. The baffle plate includes a plurality of curvilinear scallops which correspond to the air passages in the end bracket. An effective flow port is created between the scallops of the baffle plate and the tapered ramp surfaces of the end brackets so the size of the effective flow port may be adjusted by merely changing the baffle plate so as to optimize the flow and pressure parameters of the fan for a particular motor size.

A molded through-flow motor assembly has a motor housing, including a cup portion and a flange portion. The flange portion includes a plurality of ramp surfaces extending outwardly therefrom. The cup portion has a field retaining wall and guide rib extending inwardly therefrom on opposite sides of the housing. A diffuser plate is provided having a plurality of scalloped ramp surfaces on a first side thereof adjacent to a plurality of air inlet apertures which open into air chambers on the second side thereof. The field and armature portions of a motor assembly are mounted in the motor housing and the diffuser plate is fitted to the flange portion of the housing such that the ramp surfaces abut one another to form a continuous ramp surface from each air inlet aperture into the air chambers. A rotating fan member is mounted to the armature shaft and is housed within a shroud cover fitted to the motor housing. In operation, air is directed through the shroud cover by the rotating fan and into the air chambers by way of the air inlet apertures and ramp surfaces. Air is directed over the field and armature assemblies and out through vent cutouts in the cup portion of the housing.

A motor assembly having improved flux density includes a field assembly and an armature assembly rotatably received by the field assembly. The field assembly includes a plurality of like laminations stacked upon each other wherein each field lamination comprises a pair of substantially parallel bracket sides, and a pair of substantially parallel yoke sides which are substantially perpendicular to the pair of bracket sides. Corner pieces connect the yoke sides to the bracket sides wherein the corner pieces are angularly directed between about 40° to about 50° with respect to the yoke sides and the bracket sides. A yoke extends inwardly from each yoke side to form an armature opening therebetween for rotatably receiving the armature assembly. The bracket sides, the yoke sides and the corner pieces forming airflow areas therein, and the bracket sides, the yoke sides, (except at the yokes) and the corners all have substantially the same width dimension, such that the yoke sides, the bracket sides and the corners have substantially equivalent average field flux density ratios.

A motor assembly having improved flux properties comprises a rotor lamination rotatably disposed within a field lamination. The field lamination comprises a constant cross-sectional dimension, and is configured to provide a pair of opposed, tapered yokes that provide constant impedance to the rotor lamination. The rotor lamination includes a plurality of spaced teeth that are dimensioned so that taper of the yokes changes by a factor of the width of one of the teeth, thereby reducing the material needed to adequately carry the magnetic flux of the rotor lamination.
