摘要： More than two copies of data in a storage management system may be managed by directing at least one virtual volume to a receiving management class within the storage management system. Each virtual volume is exported to a third multi-volume copy, unknown to the storage management system, based on the receiving management class. A manifest file is created listing each exported virtual volume.

摘要： A system and method for processing a plurality of data storage and retrieval management or manifest files in a virtual data storage system. A plurality of individual management/manifest files, which are each used to track data management information stored on a data storage device, are merged into a single management or manifest file that can then be used to subsequently manage the input or import of data such as logical volumes from one or more physical media. This single management/manifest file could be used, for example, in a media import operation for importing a media cartridge or device into a media library such as a data storage library.

摘要： A method of disaster recovery testing continues to maintain a data collection and it continues to maintain a backup data collection. The method includes creating a disaster recovery control file based on a standard control file. An instance of the backup data collection is protected. A standard output pool is established for recording changes to the backup data collection occurring under control of the standard control file. A disaster recovery output pool is established for recording changes to the backup data collection occurring under control of the disaster recovery control file. Disaster recovery testing is conducted under control of the disaster recovery control file.
