Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling devices capable of device-to-device communication are disclosed. A network node determines at least two resource allocations for device-to-device communication between the devices. Information about the at least two resource allocations is then communicated to at least one of the devices for device-to-device communication. The device can then communicate with another device capable of device-to-device communication using one of the at least two resource allocations.

Abstract: A technique may include receiving, by a user device from a base station, a cell weight for each of one or more cells; determining, by the user device, one or more link-specific factors for each of a plurality of uplink wireless links; determining, by the user device, a link-specific weight for each of a plurality of uplink wireless links based on the one or more link-specific factors for the uplink wireless link; determining, by the user device, an overall link weight for each of the plurality of uplink wireless links based on the cell weight of a cell for the uplink wireless link and the determined link-specific weight for the uplink wireless link; and selecting, by the user device based on the overall link weight for each of the plurality of uplink wireless links, one or more uplink wireless links for transmitting data.
