    Abstract: A magnetostrictive torque sensor for detecting a torque applied to a magnetostrictive member having magnetostrictive properties, includes a detection coil arranged on an outer peripheral side of the magnetostrictive member; a magnetic ring composed of a ferromagnetic material arranged on an outer peripheral side of the detection coil; a housing having a facing portion facing the magnetic ring across the detection coil; a plug member closing an opening formed between the magnetic ring and the facing portion; a resin mold section covering the housing while exposing the magnetic ring and the plug member; a cable electrically connected to the detection coil and drawn out from the housing and the resin mold section; and a heat shrinkable tube covering the housing, a portion of the resin mold section, and an end portion of the cable exposed from the housing and the resin mold section.

    Abstract: A magnetostrictive torque sensor, configured to be mounted around a rotating shaft having a magnetostrictive effect and to detect torque applied to the rotating shaft, is provided with a support member having a cylindrical portion through which the rotating shaft is inserted; a flexible substrate arranged around an outer periphery of the cylindrical portion and having a plurality of coils composed of wiring patterns; and a tightening member that tightens the flexible substrate toward an outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion. The tightening member may be a tubular heat-shrinkable tube that shrinks upon heating. A method for manufacturing the magnetostrictive torque sensor includes placing the flexible substrate around the outer periphery of the cylindrical portion of the support member and placing the heat-shrinkable tube around an outer periphery of the flexible substrate; and tightening the flexible substrate toward the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion by heating the heat-shrinkable tube to shrink the heat-shrinkable tube.

    Abstract: The torque measuring device includes: a casing made of a magnetic metal; a rotating shaft rotatably arranged inside the casing and having a magnetostrictive effect section whose magnetic permeability changes according to torque to be transmitted; and a torque sensor arranged around the magnetostrictive effect section and supported by the casing, the torque sensor including a coil unit formed in a cylindrical shape using a flexible substrate having a detection coil that changes voltage in response to changes in the magnetic permeability of the magnetostrictive effect section, and a holder made of rubber or synthetic resin, covering an outer peripheral surface of the coil unit, and having a portion that protrudes from the coil unit on both sides in an axial direction; and the torque sensor supported by the casing with an outer peripheral surface of the holder fitted into an inner peripheral surface of the casing.

    Abstract: A magnetostrictive torque sensor is configured to be attached around a rotating shaft exhibiting a magnetostrictive effect and detects torque transmitted by the rotating shaft. The magnetostrictive torque sensor includes a holder being composed of a resin and including a cylinder portion with a hollow cavity in a center through which the rotating shaft is inserted, a flexible substrate that includes a detection portion on which a coil group composed of a combination of a plurality of detection coils aligned in a predetermined direction is formed by a wiring pattern, and a signal line portion on which a plurality of signal lines electrically connecting the coil group to an external device are formed by a wiring pattern, and a cylindrical magnetic ring being composed of a soft magnetic material and being arranged around an outer circumference of the cylinder portion of the holder. The flexible substrate is arranged in such a manner that the detection portion is curved and located between the cylinder portion of the holder and the magnetic ring, and a portion of the signal line portion is led out of the holder. The holder includes an annular wall surrounding an outer circumference of one axial end of the magnetic ring. The magnetic ring includes a retention hole that opens on an outer circumferential surface facing an inner circumferential surface of the annular wall. The holder and the magnetic ring are fixed by a shaft-shaped fastener that penetrates the annular wall and is inserted into the retention hole of the magnetic ring.
