摘要： A developing apparatus including a rotatable toner supporting member, a magnet fixedly positioned therein and a magnetic blade positioned close to the toner supporting member and in opposed relation to a cutting magnetic pole of the magnet for defining the thickness of the toner layer formed on the toner supporting member. The toner employed has a mean particle size of 5 to 30 microns and contain magnetic powder in a proportion of 15 to 50 wt. %. The magnetic field between the magnetic blade and the cutting pole is maintained at a mean magnetic flux density not lower than 1350 gauss.

摘要： This specification discloses a method of toner transfer development in which a low frequency alternating electrical bias is applied to the space between a latent image bearing member and a developer carrying member to develop the latent image on the latent image bearing member, and an apparatus for carrying out the same method. This bias has a first process in which reciprocal movement of developer particles is effected also between the non-image area of the latent image bearing member and the developer carrying member, and a second process in which the intensity of the bias is adjusted so that one-sided movement of developer particles from the developer carrying member to the image area and one-sided movement of developer particles from the non-image area to the developer carrying member may take place.

摘要： An image forming apparatus comprising: a light signal generator which comprises an exposure light source and a light-path switching means capable of interrupting the transmission of light rays at arbitrary portions of the cross-sectional area of the path of the light rays emitted from the light source, and an image-bearing member so disposed as to be illuminated with light signals from said light signal generator, wherein the light signal generator comprises: the light-path switching means which in turn comprises scanning lines, data lines and a ferroelectric liquid crystal material having an operational temperature range in which the ferroelectric liquid crystal material behaves as a ferroelectric liquid crystal and driven by selective application of signals to the scanning lines and the data lines so as to assume either one of light-transmitting state and light-interrupting state, and temperature control means for controlling the temperature of the liquid crystal material within the operational temperature range by means of at least one of heating means and cooling means.

摘要： An image formation apparatus having an image formation station for causing a recording medium to bear a visualized image, a fixing station for applying high-frequency waves to thereby fix the visualized image on the recording medium and record the image, a conveyor for conveying the recording medium along a conveyance path from the image formation station until the recording medium passage through the fixing station, and a device for preventing leakage of the high-frequency waves for fixing the visualized image on the recording medium. The fixing station has a high-frequency wave applying process for fixing the visualized image on the moving recording medium. The image formation apparatus effectively utilizes the high-frequency waves for the image formation while, on the other hand, it prevents wasteful leakage of the high-freqency waves or leakage of the high-frequency waves which interferes with humans or image formation and ensures safety.

摘要： A developing device for electrophotography includes a developer supporter faced to an image bearing member with a constant space maintained therebetween, a developer supply a magnetic field generator for generating a fixed magnetic field and a magnetic element provided within the magnetic field generated by the generator and in the vicinity of the developer supporter to limit the thickness of developer which is rendered erect by the magnetic field. The element is effective to limit the thickness of developer supported on the supporter to a value not causing contact of the developer with the non-imaged area on the image bearing member.
