Abstract: A treatment instrument that includes a first grasping member having a first grasping surface and a second grasping member having a second grasping surface. The treatment instrument includes a cover that covers at least a part of a region of at least one of the first and second grasping members other than the first and second grasping surfaces, and a pair of electrodes that are arranged on at least one of the first and second grasping surfaces to function as a bipolar electrode. An opening is provided in the cove, and a monopolar electrode arranged to overlap with the opening and is exposed to an outside of the treatment instrument through the opening.
