Abstract:
A unitary molded core structure, such as of plastic or the like, for use in a paint roller. The core structure is rotatably mounted on an axle of the paint roller and receives a cylindrical paint applying sleeve. The core has a pair of parallel plates equally spaced from the axle along with supporting ribs therealong, with the edges of the plates and ribs rigidly supporting the paint applying sleeve in the planes thereof, but the plates having a degree of flexing to facilitate mounting various sleeves thereon. Journal defining webs are molded integrally with and extend between the parallel plates. Integrally molded end discs are provided at the ends of the plates, with a removable cap disposed on the one end disc at the free end of the axle.
Abstract:
An improved mandrel construction for paint rollers characterized by the provision of a laterally movable inboard mandrel and a fixed outboard mandrel with the outboard mandrel having generally yieldable fingers normally engaging the interior of a replacement roller cover telescoped thereover. Mating locking surfaces are provided on the inboard and outboard mandrels so that when the two are brought together by relative axial movement and the locking surfaces thereof interengage, the fingers on the outboard mandrel are contracted to permit the roller cover to relatively freely fall therefrom.
Abstract:
A paint tray and applicator combination, the applicator having a handle and a transversely oriented pad at one end of the handle, the other end of the handle being longitudinally slotted; and the tray having a paint holding portion defined by a bottom, three generally upright walls and one upwardly inclined wall, with a tray handle extending outwardly from the upright wall generally opposite the inclined wall, the tray handle being recessed to nestably receive the applicator handle and having an upstanding pin to impale the slot in the applicator handle.
