Abstract: A smoking article (10, 20) comprises a flavor release segment (12). The flavor release segment (12) comprises a plug of fibrous material circumscribed by a substantially air impermeable wrapper and a plurality of solid menthol particles distributed within the plug of fibrous material. The fibrous material comprises randomly oriented fibers. Preferably the smoking article (10, 20) comprises a mouthpiece (4), wherein the mouthpiece (4) comprises the flavor release segment (12).
