Abstract: Metal-complexed antifoggant precursors of the formula A-X-A, wherein each A is an antifoggant nucleus resultant from the deprotonization of the antifoggant A-H, and X is a divalent metal, provide substantially no antifoggant functionality on photographic systems in which they are contained until cleavage of the antifoggant nuclei from the complex is accomplished.
