Abstract: A backlight device includes a plurality of light sources arranged in a shape of a matrix, a reflective sheet having partition walls arranged to surround each of the plurality of light sources in four directions and reflecting light emitted from the plurality of light sources, a luminance uniformity plate located above the reflective sheet and uniforming luminance of the light emitted from the plurality of light sources and light reflected by the reflective sheet, and a diffuser panel located above the luminance uniformity plate and diffusing light exiting from the luminance uniformity plate. A gap between the partition wall and the luminance uniformity plate is 5% to 30% of an optical distance defined by a distance between the reflective sheet and, the diffuser panel, and a gap between the luminance uniformity plate and the diffuser panel is not greater than 50% of the optical distance.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a quadrangular liquid crystal panel having a reflection layer on a back surface opposite to a display surface, a light guiding plate that diffusely reflects light incident from one end surface of the light guiding plate toward the display surface, a back-side frame disposed in parallel with the liquid crystal panel on a side opposite to the light guiding plate, and a light source holding plate including a light source fixing plate that faces the one end surface and a fixing plate portion fixed to a surface of the back-side frame on a side opposite to the liquid crystal panel. A light source is mounted on the light source fixing plate, and the fixing plate portion is formed so as to be bent perpendicularly to the light source fixing plate.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a quadrangular liquid crystal panel, a light guiding plate formed in a quadrangular shape substantially the same as that of the liquid crystal panel and having a pair of convex portions that protrude outward from a pair of end surfaces, and a frame having a light source holding plate in which a light source is mounted on a light source fixing plate, the light source fixing plate facing the one end surface, the back-side portion being formed in a quadrangular shape substantially the same as that of the liquid crystal panel. Bent side plate portions, which face the pair of end surfaces, are respectively provided on a pair of side portions of the back-side portion. Notches, into which the convex portions are fitted, are provided in the pair of bent side plate portions.

Abstract: A backlight device includes: a reflection sheet having a reflection surface which is divided into a plurality of reflection regions by a plurality of partitions that are each a ridge-shaped projection; light sources disposed in the respective reflection regions; a luminance uniformizing plate that transmits light incident from a first surface opposed to the reflection surface, and emits the light from the second surface; and a diffusion plate that diffuses and emits the light emitted from the second surface. The luminance uniformizing plate includes a high light-transmittance region between a region opposed to each of the light sources and a region opposed to a vertex portion of a corresponding one of the plurality of partitions, the high light-transmittance region being higher in light-transmittance per unit area than the region opposed to the light source and the region opposed to the vertex portion.
