Abstract: A position detection device detects a current positon of a operation member among positions including a predetermined position and includes a detection system that includes a part to be detected and 3N magnetic sensors S. The operation member can move to the positions in N (≥3) different directions from the predetermined position. Movement of the operation member between the predetermined position and another position cause outputs from three of the magnetic sensors to be switched. The magnetic sensors of which outputs are switched by a movement of the operation member between the predetermined position and a first position are all different from the magnetic sensors of which outputs are switched by a movement of the operation member between the predetermined position and a second position.

Abstract: A pattern of a rotational operation force is changed by a state of a device of an input object. An input device includes a knob, a rotation shaft body that rotates together with the knob, a rotation controller that is capable of changing a rotational operation force, a detector that detects a rotational position, a controller, and a storage that stores a plurality of patterns. The controller reads a pattern from the storage according to a pattern signal input from an outside and controls the rotation controller when the knob is operated to be rotated according to a rotational position detected by the detector and the read pattern.

Abstract: An input device includes a knob, a detector, an electromagnetic brake, an elastic member, and a controller. The detector detects a rotation angle of the knob. The electromagnetic brake regulates rotation of the knob. The elastic member is provided between the knob and the electromagnetic brake. When the current position of the knob in the circumferential direction is not the target position for rotation regulation of the knob, the controller does not activate the electromagnetic brake. When the current position of the knob in the circumferential direction is the target position for rotation regulation of the knob, the controller determines whether to regulate rotation of the knob based on a rotation direction of the knob, or on a rotation angle of the knob that shifts from the holding position of the knob in the circumferential direction due to deformation of the elastic member.

Abstract: A position detection device includes two detection systems that are respectively fed from power supply systems different from each other, and displace together with a shift lever. Each detection system can output detection patterns with four digits. A detection pattern when being located at a given position is different from a detection pattern when being located at another position. In any detection pattern, outputs of certain two digits among the four digits are set so as to be identical to each other, and to be different from outputs of two other digits. Alternatively, outputs of certain three digits among the four digits are set to be identical to each other, and to be different from an output of another digit.
