Abstract: The invention relates to uses in the cosmetic or pharmaceutical field of at least one active agent which increases the expression and/or the functionality of the. CD44 membrane receptors of skin cells and/or which improves the binding to the surface of the said skin cells of hyaluronic acid, and/or of collagen, in particular of collagen I and/or collagen IV, and/or fibronectin. These active agents are preferably null-hydroxy acids or null-keto acids or salts or esters of these acids, or manganese chloride. The cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions of the invention are intended for improving the binding of hyaluronic acid and/or of collagen, in particular collagen I and/or collagen IV, and/or of fibronectin to the surface of skin cells, and especially for improving the moisturization of the dermis and the epidermis, for preventing or treating the phenomena of ageing of the skin and also inflammatory phenomena.
