摘要： An electrostatic field shaping electrode is mounted external to an image intensifier tube in proximate spaced-apart aligned coaxial relation to an insulating envelope wall portion which is exposed to an internal electron accelerating cavity. The field shaping electrode may be employed during the operation of the tube for substantially preventing electron bombardment of the exposed insulating wall portion and for avoiding spurious output signals resulting from the generation of positive ions by that electron bombardment.
