Abstract: This disclosure provides methods and devices for realizing sensitivity gains for high-efficiency (HE) extended range (ER) dual carrier modulation (DCM) modes. A wireless communication device can determine one or more preamble symbols of a packet based on a mode of transmission of the packet, the one or more preamble symbols of the packet being associated with a receiver sensitivity limitation. The wireless communication device can apply a power boost of a to the one or more preamble symbols by a power boost value, the power boost value being based on the mode of transmission of the packet. The wireless communication device can determine whether the one or more preamble symbols with the applied power boost satisfy a spectral mask. The wireless communication device can transmit the packet when the one or more preamble symbols with the applied power boost satisfy the spectral mask.
