    Abstract: Methods are disclosed of the increasing resting metabolic rate of a subject comprising administering a composition comprising a mixture of reduced species and reactive oxygen species, wherein the mixture of reduced species and reactive oxygen species increases the resting metabolic rate of the subject. The reactive oxygen species can comprises at least one superoxide The process of making the composition comprises the steps of purifying water to produce ultra-pure water, combining sodium chloride to the ultra-pure water to create salinated water, and electrolyzing the salinated water at a temperature of about 4.5° C. to about 5.8° C.
