Abstract: A specially configured "tee" fitting for tapping into a coaxial cable network is disclosed. The fitting includes a conductive block having a cylindrical channel extending between aligned first and second openings and a passage extending between a third opening and the channel at a right angle to the channel. Cylindrical insulators are fitted into the channel at the openings, and each insulator has a central aperture for receiving the ends of a conductive double-ended pin unit. A central region of the pin unit extends between the first and second end regions, the end regions each having a coaxial blind hole. A coaxial cable connector assembly component includes a nipple adapted to be threaded into the passage and an outwardly directed coaxial cable connector which extends through by the nipple. The cable connector assembly also includes an inwardly directed spring biased center pin which is connected to the inner conductor coupling components of the coaxial cable connector and bears, at its outboard end, against the double-ended pin unit. The system bus is coupled across the fitting by providing permanent securance (as by crimping a crimp ring) to the abutting bus coaxial cable ends in such a manner that the center conductors of the cable ends extend into the blind holes and their outer conductors are placed in electrical contact with the block. Upon abandonment of a station, the entire cable connector assembly may be removed from the fitting and replaced with a threaded cap-off plug.

Abstract: A tamper-resistant terminator includes a connector body rotatably encapsulated within a shield. A port in the shield receives a terminal of a cable transmission system therethrough for rotational engagement with a threaded bore within the connector body. Another port in the shield provides access to a socket defined by a smooth continuous cylindrical surface. The socket and the threaded bore extend in opposite directions along a longitudinal axis about which the shield is freely rotatable. A tool includes a tubular shaft having a knurled portion at the free end extends from a first handle section. A disc residing adjacent the end of the tubular shaft is carried by a shaft rotatably journaled with the tubular shaft and drivingly engaged with a second handle section. In response to relative rotation between the handle sections the disc and the knurled section of the tubular shaft move between a concentric position for telescoping movement within the socket of the connector body and an eccentric position for driving engagement with the socket.

Abstract: A coaxial cable coupler is disclosed which includes a first section for coupling to the coaxial cable of a utilization device and a second section for coupling to the coaxial cable of a communications system. Both the first and second sections are provided with cavities therein. The cavity in the second section houses an insulating sleeve which in turn encloses a contact assembly for making contact to and electrically connecting the inner conductors of the coaxial cables of the communications system and utilization device. The first cavity is dimensioned and configured to function as a waveguide having a cutoff wavelength which is substantially below the operating wavelength spectrum of the system, thereby establishing a very deep bidirectional high pass filter at the open coupler. As a result, when the utilization device is disconnected, radiation from or to the coupler is prevented to thereby prevent environmental electromagnetic pollution and unauthorized wireless access from and to the system.

Abstract: In a push-on cable connector assembly, the connector is merely pushed onto the coaxial cable and positive pressure devices maintain electrical continuity at points of contact between the outer conductor of the cable undergoing tests and that of the connector assembly and between the inner conductor of said cable and that of the connector assembly. Abstract: Improved insulator configurations are provided for retarding corrosion of the central conductor pin of a coaxial cable connector. In a first embodiment of the invention, the distal end of the dielectric which surrounds the pin is provided with a domed protuberance which deflects liquid away from the pin. As a result, there is no surface tension to hold droplets of liquid at the distal end of the connector, and no chance of electrolytic bridging between the conductor pin and the outer body of the connector when the connector extends horizontally through the entry port of a electrical device. In a second embodiment, the dielectric is provided with a tubular extension portion which forms an insulator sheath around the central conductor pin, thus preventing bridging even when the connector is oriented vertically and the distal end of the outer body is submerged in liquid.
