摘要: Parallel, coordinated, and optimized access of real Base and Alias DASDs by one or more virtual machines, each utilizing one or more virtual Base and Alias DASDs. Each of a plurality of virtual machines defines a virtual Base DASD device and a modified operating system may coordinate the virtual machine activity on real Base and Alias devices to maximize overall system throughput. In more complex embodiments, one or more virtual machines define one or more virtual Bases and associated virtual Alias devices in which case wherein the embodiments described coordinate their activity on one or more real Base and Alias devices to maximize overall system throughput.

摘要: The invention relates to a system and method for caching a network connection. The system sustains connections between a server and one or more back-end databases. The server may establish multiple connections with one or more back-end databases based on data requests from one or more users. The server may determine one or more back-end databases from which the data requests may be satisfied. After receiving the data, the users, using an end-user device, may request disconnection of a connection between the end-user device and the server. The server, however, sustains the connection with the back-end database from which the data was retrieved. The server may use this connection to satisfy other data requests without re-establishing a connection with that back-end database.

摘要: A system and method for searching extended regular expressions. The system enables users to submit searches for extended regular expressions. The searches may be arbitrarily complex. Searches may also be performed for Unicode and ASCII strings. The system may parse the extended regular expression to be searched and search one or more object stores for extended regular expressions satisfying the search. The extended regular expressions located may then be presented to the user.

摘要: A system and method for statistical matching that determines statistical curves for data described in a data request and stored data that satisfies the request. The system may determine the statistical curves for each data type and determine whether any overlap exists between the statistical curves. A user may specify a particular acceptable percentage of data that may be used to satisfy the request. The data satisfying the request may be presented to the user or, alternatively, a match/no-match result may be presented indicating whether any data that satisfies the request exists.

摘要: A system and method for enabling unified access to multiple data types. The invention retrieves data regardless of data format. The system does not distinguish among data formats. The system determines a format for data to be retrieved and retrieves the data. An attribute for the data may also be retrieved. Preferably, the attribute is retrieved based on an attribute number. The system may store a value and syntax for the data retrieved identifying a format for the data.

摘要: A system and method for storing hierarchical objects. The system stores a list of hierarchies as a single object. The object includes all information relating to a particular data element. The data element may be a concept. The concept may include all related information such that if one or more portions of the data element are requested by a user, the entire data object including the requested portions is retrieved. A user may navigate forward and backward through the hierarchy and search for other information. The object is stored as a self-defining object such that all information relating to the data element is stored within the object.

摘要: A system and method for enabling multi-indexing of objects. The system may index an object inserted into an object store. The system index the entire object or record when an object or record is inserted into the object store. Multiple indexes may be created upon inserting an object into the object store. The indexes may be created based on particular fields in the object. An alias may be assigned to the object.
