Abstract:
Apparatus situated in a borehole traversing an earth formation is protected from closing of the borehole by being encased in an inflatable device. Surface equipment inflates and maintains the inflatable device at a sufficient pressure so as to prevent the earth formation from closing in and contacting the apparatus. A pressure sensor senses the maintenance pressure and provides a corresponding signal. An alarm circuit provides an alarm when the pressure decreases below the sufficient maintenance pressure level.
Abstract:
A control system controls the cupric ions content and the cuprous ions content of a copper liquor so as to control the strength of the copper liquor. The system includes a sensor sampling the copper liquor which provides a signal corresponding to the strength of the copper liquor. A network provides reference signals corresponding to an upper limit and a lower limit for the strength of the copper liquor. A comparison circuit compares the copper liquor strength signal with the reference signals and provides a signal corresponding to the comparison. Apparatus controls the addition of air to the copper liquor so as to control the cupric ion content and the cuprous ion content of the copper liquor in accordance with the comparison signal in the comparison circuit.
Abstract:
A facsimile system includes a transmitter having a light source, which provides pulses of light, scans an original copy. The pulses of light impinge on the copy during each scan. A light responsive device spacially related to the copy receives pulses of light from the copy in accordance with the copy, and provides electrical pulses. A circuit in the transmitter provides output signals in accordance with the electrical pulses from the device. A pulse source in the transmitter provides synchronization pulses. The system also includes a receiver which has a network receiving the output signals and the synchronization pulses. The network provides electrical data pulses in accordance with the received output signals and electrical synchronization pulses in accordance with the received synchronization pulses. A control circuit connected to the network provides a control signal in accordance with the data pulses from the network. A laser in the receiver scans light sensitive material and provides pulses of light which strike the material in accordance with the control signal. The receiver further includes apparatus for developing material so as to provide a printed copy of the original copy.
Abstract:
A wide dynamic range automatic gain ranging amplifier system includes an amplifier which receives an analog input signal and amplifies the received analog input signal in accordance with gain control signals to provide an amplified signal. A network connected to the amplifier also receives the analog input signal and provides the gain control signals corresponding to a desired gain for the amplifier in accordance with the received input signal and also provides gain status signals representative of the gain associated with the amplified signal.
Abstract:
A characterization factor monitor samples oil and provides a signal K corresponding to the characterization factor of the oil. Signal K may be used as a control signal or may be displayed by conventional display means to an operator. The monitor includes a refractometer and a flash point analyzer sampling the oil and providing signals RIt and F corresponding to the refractive index of the oil and to the flash point in degrees F of the oil, respectively. A temperature sensor senses the temperature of the oil and provides a signal T representative thereof. An output circuit connected to the refractometer, to the flash point analyzer and to the temperature sensor provides signal K in accordance with signals F, RIt and T.
Abstract:
A wide dynamic range automatic high speed gain ranging amplifier system includes a receiver circuit adapted to receive an analog input signal. A single stage amplifier is connected to the receiver circuit which amplifies a received analog signal to provide an output signal. A control circuit connected to the receiver circuit and to the amplifier controls the gain of the amplifier in accordance with the output signal and provides digital gain signals corresponding thereto.
