摘要： In a two-wire cylinder dryer, the wire guide rolls are so arranged that the web and wire proceed jointly from the first cylinder to the wire guide roll. An air carrier box is arranged in the shaft contained between two cylinders. The air carrier box has an air channel connecting the area of the leaving point A with an opposite pressure zone. Hot air flows into the air channel through a driver nozzle, so that in the area of the leaving point there is a vacuum zone created which is outwardly bounded by a sealing strip. The pressure zone is bounded by further sealing strips.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for drying a web of material running between a drying cylinder and a traveling covering cloth avoid the formation of air boundary layers which would impede heat exchange with respect to, and humidity removal from, the traveling web. In particular, these methods and apparatus avoid excessive wear of the covering cloth by locating a baffleplate at a distance from the covering cloth within a domain of the boundary layer, and promote a heat exchange and humidity removal through turbulence by impacting air from the boundary layer against a front surface of the baffleplate at a distance from the covering cloth, causing an exchange of air in the boundary layer and in meshes of the covering cloth. Effects of non-uniform humidity profiles are avoided by providing the front surface of the baffleplate with a varying configuration across the covering cloth.

摘要： The disclosure concerns a coating device for coating a web which travels over a counter-roller. Upstream of a doctor blade for spreading the coating composition is a coating composition application chamber that includes a resilient tongue e.g. a leaf spring, which extends downstream toward the doctor blade and defines a hydrodynamic pressure slot between the tongue and the web. A pressure space for the coating composition is defined between the downstream end of the tongue and the doctor blade. The tongue is oriented to gradually narrow the height of the hydrodynamic pressure slot between the tongue and the web, and the tongue is resilient or resilently supported for this purpose. An additional retention wall helps close off the pressure space. The pressure space helps avoid air inclusions in the coating composition and creates a quiescent zone upstream of the doctor blade enabling uniform application of the coating.

The press roll includes a rigid inner shell and flexible, elastic outer shell which rotates around the inner shell. An outwardly pressurized elongate pressure ledge is placed in the inner shell at the nip to produce an elongated nip and to be pressurized in opposition to the associated roll at the nip. In an alternate embodiment, the pressure ledge has a pressurized, outwardly facing recess facing the outer shell. A drive roll drives the outer shell to rotate around the inner shell. Recesses in the inner shell carry lubricant for lubricating the rotation thereof.
