Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for controlling a display in a portable terminal. The apparatus for controlling a display in a portable terminal includes a display unit, a camera unit located on a side where the display unit is placed, and a controller to change a display parameter value if a distance between the portable terminal and a subject is within a preset distance value when the subject is photographed through the camera unit.
