Abstract: A user interface apparatus and method in a user terminal that uses a capacitive touch input scheme are provided. The method includes monitoring an input signal that is generated by a touch on a touch panel; and in response to detecting an input signal generated by the touch, determining an area of the touch based on the input signal, and differently processing a selected command depending on the determined area.
