Abstract: Provided is a display apparatus including a light source configured to emit light; a light guide plate configured to diffuse and emit light emitted from the light source; and a local dimming portion configured to pass or scatter light emitted from the light guide plate. The local dimming portion may include an electro-optical material and a plurality of grains having refractive index that changes based on an electric field.
