Abstract: A display apparatus and a method of controlling the same are disclosed. The display apparatus includes: a light source configured to emit light having a wavelength less than or equal to a predetermined level; a waveguide plate having a slope pattern that allows the light emitted from the light source to be output to a left side or a right side about a vertical direction of an optical axis of the light source; and a display panel comprising a plurality of pixels, each of the plurality of pixels comprising a white sub pixel configured to transmit the light output from the waveguide plate.
