Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. The present disclosure discloses a method and an apparatus for operating multi-sim device with multiple RRC connection support in the 5th Generation (5G) Network (NW). In particular, a method includes detecting SIM actions in the second SIM when the first SIM is in active state or transitioning to active state. Once the SIM actions are detected, the method includes determining capability change information, of the first SIM, indicating information pertaining to change in capability of the first SIM which happens due to the SIM actions.
