Abstract: System and methods for persisting in-memory runtime data within a database system include receiving a query at a database system that includes a unified table container and determining whether the query includes a data definition statement. In response to determining that the query includes a data definition statement, in-memory runtime data is persisted to a persistent volume that is configured to be accessed by the database system. The in-memory runtime data includes one or more first data fields and one or more second data fields that are different from the one or more first data fields. Furthermore, the unified table container includes a persistent runtime data descriptor that is associated with the one or more first data fields and persists the first one or more first data fields when persisting the in-memory runtime data. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

Abstract: A database system includes a persistent storage system, a memory storing metadata defining a tenant object and a plurality of database artifacts, a first instance of the tenant object, the first instance associated with a first plurality of the database artifacts including first data associated with the first instance of the tenant object, and a second instance of the tenant object, the second instance associated with a second plurality of the database artifacts including second data associated with the second instance of the tenant object. A processing unit is to execute program code of a database instance to cause the database system to encrypt the first data associated with the first instance of the tenant object using a first public encryption key and store the encrypted first data in the persistent storage system, and encrypt the second data associated with the second instance of the tenant object using a second public encryption key and store the encrypted second data in the persistent storage system.

Abstract: Testing a database replication system within a multi-container system architecture comprises receiving a first request for creating a database recovery system within a multi-container system architecture. The multi-container system architecture is configured to contain a plurality of tenant databases and a system database, and the database recovery system includes a primary system and a secondary system. The primary system is then identified from the information in the first request. Upon identification, a first tenant database included in the plurality of tenant databases is determined that corresponds to the identified primary system. Upon determining the first tenant database, a second tenant database of the plurality of tenant database is generated that corresponds to the secondary system, and which is enabled to test replicating information that would otherwise be associated with the first tenant database.
