摘要: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a head mounted display for aircraft in which astigmatism is reduced so that a display image with a wide visual field can be observed. A reflection surface (10a) of a visor (10), onto which display light is projected from a projection optical system (12), does not have a spherical shape but an aspherical shape whose curvature in the vertical direction is smaller than in the horizontal direction. This difference in curvature eliminates the difference in optical power due to a difference in the incident angle on the reflection surface (10a) and reduces the amount of astigmatism. An intermediate image is formed in both the vertical and horizontal directions within the projection optical system (12) or in the middle of an optical path from the projection optical system (12) to the reflection surface (10a). This increases the degree of freedom of the arrangement of optical elements and allows for the reduction in size and weight of the device.

摘要: Image light is introduced into a light guide through a collimating optical system, reflected by an incident side reflective surface (101) in a substrate (100), and repeatedly reflected between a first surface and a second surface (100a, 100b). The image light reaches a plurality of emission side reflective surfaces (102a to 102c) that constitute a beam splitter. The incident side reflective surface (101) and the emission side reflective surfaces (102a to 102c) are arranged in parallel. Therefore, with respect to the image light (L1, L2) derived from the image light emitted from the same position on a display surface of a display unit and incident on the substrate 100 at the same incident angle θ1, the emission angle θ2 of the image light (L1′, L2′) emitted from the substrate (100) becomes equal in both cases when the light is reflected one time by the incident side reflective surface (101) and one time by the emission side reflective surface (102a) and when the light is reflected two times by the incident side reflective surface (101) and two times by the emission side reflective surface (102a). As a result, it is possible to reduce the generation of a ghost image, which in turn can improve the visibility of a virtual image.

摘要: Image light that travels between opposed parallel surfaces (100a, 100b) of the light guide (10) while being reflected by the opposed parallel surfaces is partially reflected by the outgoing-side reflection surfaces (102a, 102b) of a beam splitter. The image light took out from the light guide (10) is partially reflected by the two combiners (14, 15) and advances towards eyes of a user (E). The distance D of the combiners (14, 15) is set to be equal to or larger than A1/(2 cos θ·tan θ) and equal to or smaller than A2/(2 cos θ·tan θ), where θ is an incident angle θ of the image light to the combiner (14, 15), A1 is a light flux width of the image light reflected by one outgoing-side reflection surface, and A2 is a light flux width of the image light emitted from all of the outgoing-side reflection surfaces. This makes it possible to reduce the overlapping of images formed when viewed from the user, avoid the generation of partial image omission, and improve visibility.

摘要: In an image display device in which two light guides are combined, flat plates (16, 17) of the same material as that of a substrate (11) of a first light guide (10) is affixed to the outsides of a first surface (11a) and a second surface (11b) of the substrate (11), the first surface (11a) and the second surface (11b) opposing each other. Image light introduced into the substrate (11) is reflected by an incident-side reflective surface (12) toward exit-side reflective surface (13a to 13f), which are half mirrors, and a part of the image light is reflected in stages by the respective exit-side reflective surfaces (13a and 13f) and the remainder of the image light is transmitted. The image light reflected by the exit-side reflective surfaces (13a to 13f) is emitted through the second flat plate (17) and introduced into a second light guide. The part of the image light reflected by the incident-side reflective surface (12) reaches the interface between the first surface (11a) and the first flat plate (16), but enters the flat plate (16) without being reflected, and hits and is absorbed by a light-absorbing sheet (18). This reduces the occurrence of stray light and improves the visibility of a virtual image displayed before user's eyes.

The image light propagates while being reflected by a first surface (11a) and a second surface (11b) of the substrate (11), and is emitted from the substrate (11) by being partially reflected by the outgoing-side reflection surfaces (13a to 13e) as half mirrors. A transparent plastic protective plate (15) is disposed with a distance “d” of 1 mm

摘要: In an aircraft HMD, a visor has toroidally-shaped portions respectively corresponding to left and right eyes of a user, and the toroidally-shaped portions are connected at a substantially central part between the user's eyes. The toroidally-shaped portions are aspherical shapes having a smaller curvature in a vertical direction than in a horizontal direction. Two sets of an image display section and a projection optical system are provided independently corresponding to the left and right toroidally-shaped portions. Due to the difference in curvature, a difference in optical power caused, for example, by a difference in incident angle on the reflecting surface is eliminated. This lessens astigmatism and allows display of an image with a wider visual field. An intermediate image is formed in both the vertical and horizontal directions within the projection optical system or in the middle of an optical path from the projection optical system to the reflecting surface.
