Abstract: The cell has an anode with a light-transmitting through bore, one end of which is directed towards a sample-supporting cathode, the other end being directed towards a window in an anode housing. An electrically insulating sleeve is interposed between the anode and the housing. The sleeve is slidable along the anode and surrounds the end of the anode which faces the cathode. The annular end of the sleeve can be applied against a seating surface of the sample support.
