    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for communicating between communicating elements forming part of a home automation system for a building, each communicating element being connected in a communication network allowing communication according to a predefined communication protocol. Each communicating element of the communication network stores a current network address in a memory of the communicating element, the current network address being used for point-to-point addressing in the communication network, and each communicating element stores at least one preceding network address of the communicating element in the memory of the communicating element.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for automatically configuring a network address of network interfaces of communicating elements intended to form part of a home-automation system for a building and belonging to an unconfigured network part, the unconfigured network part including a head network equipment item and at least one communicating element, the network address of each network interface including a network prefix. The method is implemented subsequent to the connection of the head network equipment item to a configured communication network arranged in the form of a hierarchical network including at least two successive hierarchy levels, the method including steps of: negotiating the network prefix of the network interface of the head network equipment item; propagating the network prefix to the communicating elements belonging to the network part with a view to the automatic configuration of the network addresses of the set of network interfaces of the communicating elements.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a communication method implemented in a home-automation system for a building including communicating elements including home-automation and network equipment, the communicating elements being connected to an unconfigured communication network, each communicating element utilizing a predefined communication protocol, and having physical and network addresses including a network prefix cut up into a plurality of addressing fields, at least one of which is not filled. The method includes steps, implemented by a first home-automation equipment item, of: receiving a message including a compressed header containing a first destination network address indication field and a second indication field indicating a fully compressed source network address; obtaining based on the header, without decompression of the source network address and/or of the destination network address, a recipient network element identified, and determining whether the first home-automation equipment item is the recipient; and processing the message as a function of the determination result.
