    Abstract: An illumination device of the present disclosure includes: a first light source unit that emits first light of a first wavelength band; a first spatial light modulator where the first light from the first light source unit enters; a second light source unit that emits second light of a second wavelength band; an integrator optical system including a first fly-eye lens where the second light from the second light source unit enters and generating illumination light for an illumination target on a basis of the first light having been modulated by the first spatial light modulator and the second light from the second light source unit; and a multiplexing optical system that multiplexes the second light having entered the first fly-eye lens and the first light having been modulated by the first spatial light modulator, in an optical path between the first fly-eye lens and the illumination target.

    Abstract: An illuminator of the present disclosure includes a light source unit that emits at least one colored light, and emits, for each of the pieces of colored light, light having a plurality of peak wavelengths different from each other, and a diffraction device that includes a plurality of divided areas, and displays, in each of the divided areas, a diffraction pattern that is optimized at a corresponding peak wavelength out of each of the peak wavelengths. The plurality of divided areas allows the light of the plurality of peak wavelengths to enter the plurality of divided areas individually for each of the pieces of colored light.

    Abstract: A light source device includes a wavelength conversion element including a substrate and a wavelength conversion layer that is retained by the substrate. The wavelength conversion layer absorbs a portion of incident first color light to output second color light in a wavelength range different from the first color light while outputting an unabsorbed portion of the first color light, in which a portion of the substrate and the wavelength conversion layer has a function of diffusing the first color light.

    Abstract: A projection display device includes a light source part including a first light source part that emits first color light and a second light source part that emits second color light having an emission intensity distribution different from that of the first color light, an image generator that generates an image on a basis of light emitted from the light source part, and a projection lens that projects the light outputted from the image generator onto a projection surface and has a projection optical axis that is shifted from a reference optical axis of the device as a whole. An emission optical axis of the first light source part is shifted to a direction opposite to a direction of the projection optical axis having been shifted.

    Abstract: A first projection display apparatus includes a color separator (41A) that has first and second incident surfaces (S1a and S1b), and allows light in first to third wavelength bands to pass therethrough or reflects the light in the first to third wavelength bands; first to third reflective light modulators (15); a first polarization splitter (12G); a second polarization splitter (12RB); and a projection optical system (19). Light in at least one of the first to third wavelength bands enters the first incident surface of the color separator as first polarized light, and light in the other wavelength bands enters the second incident surface of the color separator as second polarized light orthogonal to the first polarized light.

    Abstract: A fluorescent substrate according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a substrate that is configured in a rotatable manner; a fluorescent layer disposed in a center of the substrate; and a fixing layer that fixes a portion of a surface on side on which the fluorescent layer is located of the substrate and a portion of a surface on side on which the substrate is located of the fluorescent layer to each other. Thus, in a case where warpage occurs in the substrate due to a stress caused by thermal expansion arising in each of the fluorescent layer and the substrate, it is possible to reduce an amount of displacement of the fluorescent layer.
