The present technology relates to an image processing apparatus and method for enabling a relative posture between a projection unit and a shooting unit to be found more easily. According to one aspect of the present technology, a correspondence between a projection image and its shot image is detected by use of a pattern shot image which is a shot image of a pattern projection image as a projection image of an image including a pattern. The present technology can be applied to an electronic device including a projector or camera or the functions of both, a computer for controlling the same, and the like.

There is provided an information processing apparatus and method, and a projection imaging apparatus and an information processing method capable of suppressing an increase in processing amount of processing related to update of correction information used for geometric correction and the like, the information processing apparatus detecting, in regard to projection imaging apparatuses each having a projection unit that projects an image on a projection surface and an imaging unit that images the projection surface, a corresponding point between a pixel of the projection unit and a pixel of the imaging unit for a relation between one of the projection imaging apparatuses whose posture has changed and one of the projection imaging apparatuses whose posture has not changed, and estimating a relative posture of the projection imaging apparatus whose posture has changed with respect to the projection imaging apparatus whose posture has not changed.

There is provided an image processing apparatus and a method that allow for corresponding point detection at a higher speed and with higher accuracy. By outputting invisible light and visible light via the same optical system, an image of the invisible light and an image of the visible light are projected to cause a portion or all of the image of the invisible light and a portion or all of the image of the visible light to be projected in the same region on a projection surface. The present disclosure is applicable to, for example, an image processing apparatus, an image projecting apparatus, an image projection imaging apparatus, a control apparatus, an information processing apparatus, a projection imaging system, an image processing method, a program, or the like.

There is provided an image processing apparatus and method that can improve accuracy of corresponding point detection. A plurality of predetermined feature points included in a captured image obtained by capturing a projected image including the feature points are detected, a single or a plurality of dots included in a captured image obtained by capturing a projected image including a dot pattern including the dots are detected, and corresponding points between the projected image and the captured image are detected by identifying the detected feature points on the basis of an appearance pattern of the detected dots in a time direction corresponding to the feature points. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, an image processing apparatus, a projection apparatus, an imaging apparatus, a projection imaging apparatus, a control apparatus, a projection imaging system, or the like.

There is provided an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and a program capable of reducing a decrease in resolution in overlapping areas of multiple projection in cases where a plurality of projectors is used to perform the multiple projection onto an object. An information processing apparatus according to one aspect of the present technology generates, in regard to a plurality of projectors irradiating an object serving as a projection target with projection light rays as superimposing light rays depicting a projection image having pixels, mask information for regulating intensity of the corresponding light ray of each pixel of the projection image. The mask information includes information indicating, in regard to the object having a surface including a predetermined position, that the position is irradiated by a predetermined projector. The present technology can be applied to computers each of which causes a plurality of projectors to project images.

There is provided an image processing apparatus and method that realize corresponding point detection during content viewing while keeping cost increase to a minimum. A pattern image including a given pattern is superimposed on any one of a plurality of subframes corresponding to a frame, each subframe is sequentially projected onto a projection section, a capture section is caused to capture the projected subframe image, projected by the projection section, on which the pattern image has been superimposed in synchronism with the projection control, and corresponding points between the projected image and a captured image are detected on the basis of the pattern image included in the captured image acquired as a result of capture by the capture section, in accordance with the capture control. Provided is a projection-type image display device including: a projection unit including a light source configured to emit light having intensity corresponding to a pixel value of an input image and a deflection unit configured to deflect emitted light from the light source using a mirror to perform scanning on a projection object; a retiming unit configured to perform retiming on pixel data of the input image in accordance with a deflection angle in the deflection unit; a shape distortion correction table having a shape distortion correction amount in each shape distortion correction table calculation position; a brightness distortion correction table having a brightness distortion correction amount in each brightness distortion correction table calculation position; and an image correction unit configured to perform distortion correction on the input image by performing signal processing based on the shape distortion correction table and the brightness distortion correction table.
