Abstract: Low pressure polymerization of a vinyl halide with 4-methyl pentene-1 is disclosed. The reaction is conducted in an oxygenfree atmosphere at a pressure not in excess of 150 atmospheres absolute at a temperature of from -5* to +80* C., optionally in the presence of a polymerization initiator. The resulting product is transparent, colorless, thermostable and has a melt index of not more than 100.
