Abstract: A triggerable spark-gap is provided wherein the main gap discharge time is controlled by placing an auxiliary pair of discharge electrodes inside one of the main gap electrodes and causing a discharge for emitting ultra-violet light. The ultraviolet light illuminates the region in which the main discharge channel will form through a small aperture in the one of the main electrodes within which the auxiliary pair of electrodes are placed.
