Abstract: A grid unit for supporting a filter element used in a liquid filter comprises vertical supporting struts crossed by horizontal ribs positioned to cause the liquid to flow in a serpentine manner. A narrow slot at an end of the grid structure controls the flow of the liquid between the grid and a collecting trough. Rectangular construction of the grid unit facilitates joining a plurality of units to enlarge the area of the grid.
