    Abstract: One embodiment provides a method comprising obtaining, via a microphone of a hearable device, one or more measurements of a first individual transfer function from a transducer of the hearable device to a first sound pressure at the microphone. At least a portion of the hearable device is within proximity of an ear canal of an individual ear. The method further comprises determining, based on the one or more measurements of the first individual transfer function, a second individual transfer function from the first sound pressure to a second sound pressure at an eardrum within the ear canal. The method further comprises applying, based in part on the second individual transfer function, personalized equalization (PEQ) within the audio full range (low, mid and high frequencies) to an audio signal for reproduction via the hearable device.

    Abstract: One embodiment provides a slim acoustic transducer with a diaphragm including a hole that is substantially centered on a vertical axis of the diaphragm. The hole has a first horizontal width. A voice coil has a ring shape that is disposed at least partially within the hole and substantially centered on the vertical axis. The ring shape has an outer and inner horizontal width. The outer horizontal width is smaller than or equal to the first horizontal width of the hole. A column structure is disposed at least partially within the ring shape and substantially centered on the vertical axis. The column structure has a second horizontal width that is smaller than or equal to the inner horizontal width of the ring shape. The column structure includes an upper magnet, a middle plate disposed below the upper magnet and a lower magnet disposed below the middle plate.

    Abstract: One embodiment provides a waveguide for controlling sound directivity of high frequency sound waves generated by a speaker driver. The waveguide is positioned in front of the speaker driver. The waveguide comprises one or more ridge areas, one or more recess areas, and one or more smooth surfaces. Each smooth surface connects a ridge area to a recess area to create a smooth transition between the ridge area and the recess area without any seams or sharp transitions. The waveguide shapes propagation of the sound waves to provide a smooth off-axis frequency response for the sound waves.

    Abstract: One embodiment provides a method that includes receiving, by a processor, port tube design parameters for a port tube for a speaker device. The method further includes predicting, by the processor, pressure and pressure gradients by performing a numerical simulation process based on the port tube design parameters. The processor further determines a measure of shear within the port tube and at exits of the port tube based on the predicted pressure and pressure gradients. The method additionally includes updating, by the processor, the port tube design parameters and repeating performing the numerical simulation and the determining of the measure of shear until a minimized shear measure result is determined.
