Abstract: A cooking apparatus and a method for controlling the cooking apparatus are provided. The cooking apparatus includes induction heating coils that include a high power burner in which a first heating coil and a second heating coil are concentric. The cooking apparatus includes a low power burner that includes a third heating coil and a fourth heating coil, a power supply unit that includes a first AC power supply unit and a second AC power supply unit which have a different phase from each other, and a coil driving unit that provides power supplied by the first AC power supply unit to the first heating coil, and provides power supplied by the second AC power supply unit to at least one of the second heating coil, the third heating coil, and the fourth heating coil.

Abstract: A cooking apparatus and a control method thereof, and more particularly, technology for determining the type of vessel placed in the cooking apparatus and controlling power in response to a state change of the placed vessel or a temperature change of a coil. In accordance with one aspect, a cooking apparatus includes: a coil on which a vessel is placed, configured to form a magnetic field upon application of a current; a detection sensor configured to detect a magnitude of an input current applied differently according to a type of the vessel and a magnitude of an input voltage of the cooking apparatus; and a controller configured to determine a type of the placed vessel according to a power value calculated based on the detected input current and input voltage, and to determine a heating mode of the cooking apparatus based on the determined type of vessel.

Abstract: An induction heating apparatus including a plurality of inverters configured with a plurality of types of switching topologies on a printed board assembly (PBA). The induction heating apparatus includes a cooking plate; a plurality of induction heating coils installed below the cooking plate and configured to generate a magnetic field; a plurality of driving circuits respectively connected to the plurality of induction heating coils and configured to supply a driving current to the corresponding induction heating coils; and a rectifier circuit configured to rectify AC power to supply the rectified AC power to the plurality of driving circuits. Each of the plurality of driving circuits may be connected in parallel to an output terminal of the rectifier circuit. The plurality of driving circuits may include at least one first driving circuit comprising one switching element and at least one second driving circuit comprising a plurality of the switching elements.

Abstract: A cooking apparatus includes a body, an input unit configured to receive a command in relation to controlling the cooking apparatus from a user, a knob configured to be attachable to one surface of the body or detachable from the body, and a controller configured to sense whether the knob is attached to the body, to receive the command via the knob when the knob is attached, and to receive the command from the input unit when the knob is not attached. As is apparent from the above description, the cooking apparatus may be controlled according to a user's preferences by using the knob attachable to and detachable from the body of the cooking apparatus and may be more conveniently controlled by using the knob in several sides of the cooking apparatus rather than a limited space.
