Abstract: An apparatus and method for running an application in a mobile terminal are provided. The apparatus includes a display for running a second application on a first screen according to a second touch event, and displaying a second screen smaller than the first screen, and a controller for hiding the second screen from a current screen to display an entire area of the first screen while a touch in an external area of the second screen is detected, and displaying again the second screen on the first screen if the touch in the external area of the second screen is released.
