Abstract: The method and apparatus relate to a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data rate after a 4th generation (4G) communication system such as long-term evolution (LTE). A method for controlling a measurement operation in a wireless communication system, and an apparatus therefor are provided. The method includes an operation method of a terminal including receiving a message for controlling a measurement operation from a base station, and controlling a measurement operation based on the message. The message including information indicating an object for the application of the controlled measurement operation.
