Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling an application using key inputs or a combination thereof. The apparatus may be implemented as, for example, a mobile terminal including a touch screen configured to display an icon corresponding to a first application under a display layer of a second application currently displayed on the touch screen, and a controller configured to execute the first application in response to detecting an input to the second application configured to execute the first application.
