In some instances, the techniques include monitoring interactions between a user and a content item that the user consumes on an electronic device. In response to detecting an interaction between the user and the content item, the techniques may publish an event indicative of the interaction to an application platform that hosts one or more applications. The applications may be designed to enhance the content that the user consumes in one or more specified ways.

In particular implementations, a client device may tag one or more annotations of an electronic book, where each of the annotations may be associated with a portion of the electronic book. The client device may request and obtain annotations associated with one or more tags and export the annotations to at least one destination, such as an additional client device, a file, an application, or a combination thereof. Additionally, annotation tags may be shared by members of a particular group. Thus, one member of the group can obtain and utilize tags used by other members of the group.

摘要： An electronic book distribution system includes electronic devices that reset their passcodes after specified authentication failures. The passcodes of an individual electronic device is reset to a value that is generated using a predefined function of a randomly generated support code. The support code is displayed to the user, and the user is instructed to contact a support service in order to obtain the new passcode. The support service independently authenticates the user, calculates the new device passcode using the same predefined function used by the electronic device, and provides the new passcode to the user.
