    摘要: Disclosed is a method of driving a piezo-electric type ink jet head for jetting inks out of a nozzle by making use of a distortion of a piezo-electric element. The driving method includes a first step of driving the piezo-electric element so that a meniscus of inks is receded from an initial position of the nozzle to a first position within the nozzle, a second step of driving the piezo-electric element so that the meniscus quickly advances from the first position to a second position within the nozzle, and a third step of driving the piezo-electric element so that the meniscus slowly advances from the second position to the initial position. A particle quantity of ink particles is changed by changing a movement quantity from the first position to the second position in the second step.

This apparatus is useful in correcting lightness over a color image input from a digital camera, an image scanner or the like.

    摘要: In a method for fingerprint identification, fingerprint images of parts of one finger of a person to be registered are registered as registered fingerprint images, and a relative position is calculated. A fingerprint image of a person to be identified is acquired as a read fingerprint image. Based on the relative position, a registered fingerprint image from among the registered fingerprint images is specified, and a matching degree between the registered fingerprint image specified and the read fingerprint image is calculated. The specifying and the calculating are executed until the matching degree is greater than a predetermined value.

    摘要: When an L*a*b* value of a certain color is outside a target color gamut to be converted, it is judged whether the L*a*b* value is located within the range of the color gamut set under a predetermined condition. This set range is a range in which the accuracy is degraded if colors are converted using only a first method, for example, a range in the neighborhood of the color gamut. If a color to be converted is located within the range, colors are converted using a second method. If the L*a*b* value of the color to be converted is outside of the set range, it is converted using the first method until the conversion result is contained within the range. Then, the occurrence of both a problem which the first conversion method has for colors in the neighborhood of the color gamut when colors are converted and a problem which the second method has in the conversion of a color far from the color gamut can be suppressed.

    摘要: A fingerprint authentication apparatus stores fingerprint data of plural fingers. The fingerprint authentication apparatus stores a history of a result of an authentication process executed using the fingerprint data. The fingerprint authentication apparatus determines the number of accepted fingers, which is the number of fingers from which the fingerprint data is accepted from a user during the authentication process, and a false acceptance rate based upon the history. The fingerprint authentication apparatus accepts the fingerprint data from the fingers in the determined number of accepted fingers. The fingerprint authentication apparatus collates whether each of the accepted fingerprint data coincides or not using the determined false acceptance rate. The fingerprint authentication apparatus authenticates a user based upon a collation result.

    摘要: A color converting apparatus and method which accurately converts a color signal in the vicinity of the boundary of a color range of a color reproducing device. This enables dissimilar devices to exchange color images and accurately reproduce colors from the sending device to the receiving device despite different color capabilities of the two devices. This is accomplished by a first color converted result and a second color converted result are stored in a color conversion table. The first color converted result is obtained by converting an input color signal into a color signal that is color-reproducible. The second color converted result is obtained by converting an input color signal into a color signal that is not color-reproducible. In a region outside of the color reproducible range of a printer, a display, or other similar devices, when the relationship of an input color signal is accurately kept, a color signal is accurately performed.
