    a polymer membrane,
    a fluidic pressure chamber,
    a conductive layer including heating elements,
    a skin contacting frame having through apertures with tactile elements accommodated therein and operable between a retracted position and an extended position in which the tactile element protrudes from the frame. Each through aperture and each corresponding tactile element are both aligned with a corresponding heating element and corresponding surface area of the membrane so that when local heating of the corresponding surface area is actuated and pressure is applied to the membrane, the corresponding surface area is caused to soften and deform, thereby moving the corresponding tactile element from the retracted to the extended position.
