Abstract: A differential rectifier for use in a receiver for receiving wireless power via inductive coupling comprises first and second capacitors; first and second switching elements; and first and second inductors. The first capacitor and first inductor are electrically connected in series, and the second capacitor and second inductor are electrically connected in series. The first switching element is electrically connected between the first capacitor and first inductor in parallel, and the second switching element is electrically connected between the second capacitor and second inductor in parallel. The first capacitor electrically is connected to a terminal of a coil for receiving power wirelessly via inductive coupling, and the second capacitor is electrically connected to another terminal of a coil for receiving power wirelessly via inductive coupling. The first and second switching elements are electrically connected to a tap of a coil for receiving power wirelessly via inductive coupling.

Abstract: A transmit resonator is provided. The transmit resonator comprises: two inductors; a switching network electrically connected to the inductors; a plurality of capacitive electrodes electrically connected to the switching network; a detector communicatively connected to the capacitive electrodes; and a controller communicatively connected to the switching network and the detector. The detector is configured to detect impedance. The controller is configured to control the switching network to control which electrodes are connected to the inductors based on the detected impedance. The inductors and electrodes are configured to resonate to generate an electric field.

Abstract: An overcurrent detection circuit for use in a transmitter of a wireless power transfer system is provided. The transmitter comprises a transmitter element for generating a field to transfer power to a receiver of a wireless power transfer system. The circuit is adapted to shut down a transmitter of a wireless power transfer system in response to a detected short circuit event. An overvoltage protection circuit for use in a receiver of a wireless power transfer system is also provided. The receiver comprises a receiver element for extracting power from a field generated by a transmitter of a wireless power transfer system, and a switching element electrically connected to the receiver element. The overvoltage protection circuit is adapted to electrically ground the switching element based on an overvoltage event.
