The fiber optic terminal includes a terminal cover configured to close onto the base. A plurality of fiber routing guides are disposed in the base defining an optical fiber perimeter in the interior chamber. At least one fiber optic connection panel is disposed in the fiber optic terminal for establishing optical connections. The fiber optic connection panel is disposed on the internal surface of the terminal cover such that when the terminal cover is closed, the fiber optic connection panel is disposed within the optical fiber perimeter. In this manner, routing of optical fibers around the optical fiber perimeter provides space for disposing the fiber optic connection panel in the fiber optic terminal when the terminal cover is closed.
