Abstract:
A leader on a web coacts with a hook which projects into a reel chamber in a case to limit web recoil into, and interfere with initiation of web removal from, the case. The leader also coacts with a reel on which the web is wound to prevent web ravel. The leader has an aperture and is fashioned with a pair of sloping shoulders which are wider than the spacing of the reel flanges such that upon web recoil the shoulders engage the flanges causing the leader to bend and displace the aperture toward engagement with the hook and to tension the reel to cause its frictional retention.
Abstract:
A pair of guide members disposed on opposite sides of a transducer head hold a record tape in a tortuous course between a takeup reel and a supply reel. A pair of arms are rockably arranged for straightening the path by moving said guide members simultaneously and are controlled by springs and by a cam which is manually responsive. A link couples the cam and said arms and carries a follower which is engaged in a cam track in said cam. A pinch roller is responsive to said cam through the agency of a linkage to said follower and moves between a tape disengaged position and a position in which the tape is held in capstan contact as the guide members move between straight and tortuous course conditions.
Abstract:
A plurality of electromagnetic transducers for recording in magnetic medium supported on a moveable carrier are arranged in a record head in alignment with a magnetic sensor which is responsive to a clock track in said medium. An effect generated by the sensor in response to a sensed mark in the clock track simultaneously orders (1) transmission of intelligence to writing amplifiers, (2) discharge of the amplifiers to said transducers for recording said intelligence and (3) cycling of a timer. Upon completion of its cycle, the timer orders (1) drive to the carrier terminated for reinitiation in response to availability of intelligence for recordal and (2) resetting of a data register for receiving new intelligence.
