Abstract: An example nasal airway tube includes a tubular body having a distal end and a proximal end. A surface at the distal end including an opening. The tubular body having an overall curvature with a radius of curvature defined relative to a longitudinal axis of the tube. An X-axis is defined by the longitudinal axis of the tube, and a Y-axis extends perpendicularly from the longitudinal axis and has a positive direction defined outwardly relative to the radius of curvature. At least a portion of the opening faces outwardly relative to the radius of curvature. A vector normal to a plane defined by the opening includes a positive Y-coordinate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing the integrity of an anastomosis of a bodily lumen includes a multi-lumen tubular body having a first balloon that can be positioned proximally of an anastomosis, a second balloon that can be positioned distally of the anastomosis, and an aperture on the tubular body intermediate the first and second balloons. Once the first and second balloons are inflated, they define, in concert with the surrounding bodily lumen, a region that can be used to observe integrity of the anastomosis prior to conclusion of surgery. A fluid, such as air, is introduced through the aperture to the testing region, and a camera and lights provided on the instrument facilitate observation of any behavior of the fluid indicative of leaks in the anastomosis.

Abstract: An actuated telescoping system for navigation within a vascular lumen and thrombectomy of a thrombus. The system includes a tubular catheter member having an open distal end defining a catheter lumen, a vacuum source, a rotational drive system, a flexible shaft having a channel coupled to the rotational drive system for rotational movement in response thereto, and an optional guidewire selectively inserted at least partially within the flexible shaft. The flexible shaft is at least partially disposed within the tubular catheter member configured for uncoupled rotational and translational motion therein and to optionally define a corkscrew motion in response to rotational driving force by the drive system that results in formation of hydrodynamic vortices within the catheter lumen. The telescoping system can be capable of reversibly transitioning between navigation and thrombectomy modes by differentially disposing and actuating the components and enable faster, more efficient and simpler removal of thromboembolic material.

Abstract: Quick-deployable medical drapes with included integrated toolkits are provided that allow the medical drape, once deployed, to simultaneously protect an area of a patient in need of a medical procedure and expose tools of the integrated toolkit for immediate access by medical professionals. The integrated toolkits may be of different types that include medical and/or surgical tools for use medical procedures. The medical drapes are formed of fully or partially sterile materials and formed into packages having a stored state, in which the medical drape and toolkit are protected against contamination, and a deployed state, in which the medical drape is placed on the patient and ready for the medical procedure.

Abstract: A device and method for occluding the descending aorta includes inserting a gastroesophageal resuscitative aortic occlusion device into a stomach of a patient through the esophagus. The gastroesophageal resuscitative aortic occlusion device includes a catheter having a body and a first lumen, and a distal end having a first opening fluidly coupled to the first lumen. An inflatable balloon is disposed on the catheter. An interior of the inflatable balloon is fluidly coupled to the first opening. An inflation device is operably connected to the catheter and fluidly coupled to the first lumen. Activation of the inflation device forces fluid into the interior of the inflatable balloon through the first lumen and the first opening. Activating the inflation device to pressurizes the inflatable balloon with a fluid. An external pressure device applies pressure to the abdomen of the patient until blood flow through the descending aorta is reduced or stopped.
