Abstract: To provide a material that can be easily ascertained whether antibacterial or antiviral function is imparted. In the polyphenol derivative, hydrogen atoms of some hydroxy groups or some hydrogen atoms of aromatic rings of a polyphenol are substituted by a luminescent group. In the polyphenol derivative, hydrogen atoms of some hydroxy groups or some hydrogen atoms of aromatic rings of a polyphenol may be substituted by a chain hydrocarbon group. The polyphenol derivative may be network polymerized into a polymer material.
