摘要： An image forming apparatus, which uses a developing device including: a developer carrying member developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive member with a developer; a developer containing portion containing the developer; an agitating member provided rotatably in the developer containing portion to agitate the developer; and a developer remaining amount detecting member outputting a signal for detecting the remaining amount of the developer contained in the developer containing portion, the image forming apparatus including a main body controller to which the signal is input, and which detects the remaining amount of the developer, the main body controller detecting the remaining amount of the developer in the developer containing portion based on the amount of change per a unit revolution number of the agitating member in the band of fluctuation in the signal in association with the rotation of the agitating member.

摘要： An image forming apparatus, which uses a developing device including: a developer carrying member; a developer containing portion; an agitating member agitating a developer; a developer amount detecting member outputting a signal for detecting the remaining amount of the developer contained in the developer containing portion, the image forming apparatus including a main body controller detecting the remaining amount using a first detecting unit that sets a reference value as a reference for detecting the remaining amount by the signal, and thereafter calculates the remaining amount based on an amount of change in the signal from the reference value, and a second detecting unit that detects the remaining amount based on a band of fluctuation in the signal corresponding to a rotational period of the agitating member.

The image forming apparatus includes a storage unit that stores a plurality of pieces of setting information for setting an image forming condition in accordance with a plurality of characteristics of the cartridges; and a controller that sets the image forming condition based on information regarding a usage amount of each of the plurality of types of cartridges and selection information for selecting one of the plurality of pieces of setting information, the selection information being stored in the storage medium in the cartridge.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member including a first photosensitive layer having a first thickness provided in a first cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus or including a second photosensitive layer having a second thickness provided in a second cartridge detachably mountable to the main assembly of the image forming apparatus; a developer carrying member for carrying a developer to develop with a developer an electrostatic image formed on the image bearing member; a voltage source for applying a development DC voltage to the developer carrying member; a density changing device for changing a density of the image by changing the development DC voltage, wherein when the density changing device changes a density set level from a standard value to a changed value, an amount of the change of the development DC voltage is different between when the first cartridge is used and when the second cartridge is used.
