    Abstract: Optical interference filters associated with specific, unique signatures are applied to medical consumables in order to label them. The interactions of those optical interface filters with electromagnetic waves can be observed in order to determine those unique signatures. These unique signatures can be used to look up entries in a database that contain information associated with the tagged medical consumable, allowing for the medical consumable to be easily identified and verified. Various systems and methods are provided herein that utilize these optical interference filters for performing medication reconciliation and tracking patient compliance to prescribed drug schedules, which can greatly reduce the errors and costs associated with medication reconciliation and monitoring patient compliance.
