Abstract:
Means are provided which are adapted to guide a portion of an information carrier consisting of a strip in the form of a loop. A sensing device is movable along a predetermined path into and out of engagement with said portion of said strip. Mode control means are operable to set the apparatus for any of a plurality of modes of operation. One of said modes is a fast rewind mode. Locking means are movable between an inoperative position, in which they are clear of said path, and an operative position, in which they extend into said path and are adapted to hold said sensing device clear of said strip. Means are arranged to more said locking means to and hold them in said operative position in response to the setting of the apparatus for said fast rewind mode and to move said locking means to and hold them in said inoperative position in response to the setting of the apparatus for another of said modes.
Abstract:
A coil holder is detachably mounted in a frame and holds a coil of strip having a leading end on the periphery of said coil. A belt drive comprises a first pulley, which is rotatably mounted in said frame on a stationary axis, a first coil-engaging element including a second pulley and mounted in said frame for movement between an inoperative position, in which said first coilengaging element is clear of said coil holder and coil, and an operative position, in which said second pulley bears on the periphery of said coil, and a belt trained around both said pulleys and having a forward course extending from said second pulley. Drive means are operable to drive said first pulley to move said forward course of said belt away from said second pulley to rotate said coil in a strip-unwinding sense when said first coil-engaging element is in its said operative position, whereby said leading end of said strip is moved in a predetermined direction of travel. A stripper constitutes a second coil-engaging element and is mounted in said frame for movement between an inoperative position, in which said stripper is clear of said coil holder and coil, and an operative position, in which said stripper engages the periphery of said coil at a point which succeeds said second pulley in said direction of travel when said first coil-engaging element is in its said operative position, said stripper and said forward course of said belt defining between them a passage through which said strip is movable in said direction of travel away from said coil. A locking device is mounted in said frame for movement between an inoperative position and an operative position, in which it engages at least one of said coil-engaging elements and holds it against moving to its said operative position.
Abstract:
The information carrier is wound on a reel which is contained in a cartridge of either of first and second types. Each of the cartridges has locating and fixing surfaces specific to the type of cartridge. The reel in the cartridges of said first type has a flange. The reel in the cartridges of the second type has a central bore. The cartridges of the second type have a wall formed with an aperture aligned with said bore. The information carrier on said reel has a leading end. The appliance comprises first locating and fixing means adapted to engage said locating and fixing surfaces of any cartridge of said first type so as to hold said cartridge of said first type in an operative position on said appliance, second locating and fixing means adapted to engage said locating and fixing surfaces of any cartridge of said second type so as to hold said cartridge of said second type in an operative position on said appliance, threading means operable to mechanically move said leading end of said information carrier in a cartridge of either of said first and second types when said cartridge is held in said operative position, first reel-driving means adapted to cooperate with said flange and operable to drive said reel in a cartridge of said first type when said cartridge is in said operative position, and second reel-driving means comprising a mandrel adapted to extend through said aperture into engagement with said bore of a reel of a cartridge of said second type when said cartridge is in said operative position. The second reel-driving means are operable to drive said reel in said cartridge of said second type.
Abstract:
A sound recorder and reproducer, e.g., as used in combination with a motion-picture projector, can be placed in a recording mode by the operation of a record key and the setting of a switch-control member. The record key, when operated, or an actuating element displaceable thereby remains locked for at least a limited time to facilitate initiation of sound recording by a subsequent setting of the control member which preserves the enabling position until this member has been reset. The control member, which may be a pushbutton or a knob serving to start the film drive of the projector while completing the recording circuit, either blocks the return of the displaced actuating element by a delayed-action restoring mechanism or acts through a one-way coupling upon a detent for the record key to deactivate same on its resetting stroke.
Abstract:
Strip-handling means are provided for handling a record strip forming a coil on a spool and having a leading end on the outside periphery of said coil. A threading device is movable between an inoperative position and an operative position and is adapted in said operative position to engage the outside periphery of said coil and to remove said leading end from said coil. A final control member has an engaging surface and is operatively connected to said threading device and slidable to an inoperative position and an operative position to move said threading device to its inoperative and operative positions, respectively. A drive member is disposed adjacent to said engaging surface and rotatable on an axis and movable in a direction which is generally radial to said axis into and out of engagement with said engaging surface. Said drive member in engagement with said engaging surface is rotatable to move said final control member to its operative position. A mode control switch is movable to a predetermined position. The strip-handling means are adapted to initiate the unwinding of said strip from said coil when said switch is in said predetermined position. An intermediate control member is operatively connected to said switch and said drive member and arranged to move the latter into engagement with said engaging surface in response to a movement of said switch to said predetermined position.
Abstract:
A cinematographic apparatus which is adapted to be used with film-storing cartridges, which comprises film extraction means which have an operating and a rest position and which includes feeding means and stripper means. In an operating position of the film extraction means the feeding means and the stripper means abut a film coil within the cartridge. Operating means are provided for the film extraction means, and locking means have a rest position and a locking position. The operating means are displaceable to their operating position only, when the locking means are in their rest position, whereas the locking means are displaceable to their locking position only when the operating means are out of their operating position. Biasing means urge the locking means towards the locking position. Pawl means are adapted to secure the locking means in their rest position and controlled by the operating means. The pawl means release the locking means, when the operating means are out of their rest position.
