A method of creping a paper web comprising: applying to a rotating creping cylinder an effective amount of a modified creping adhesive composition comprising at least one adhesive component and at least one modifier component, said modifier component comprising an organophosphorus compound; pressing a paper web against the creping cylinder to effect adhesion of the paper web to the creping cylinder; and dislodging the paper web from the creping cylinder with a doctor blade is also disclosed and claimed.

    摘要: A method for target application of a Performance Enhancing Material to a creping cylinder in order to improve a tissue making operation is described and claimed. The method involves dividing the creping cylinder into Zones and then applying the desired Performance Enhancing Material on a Zone by Zone basis such that each Zone has the optimal Performance Enhancing Material present. Furthermore, a method to ascertain the amount and pattern of application of the Performance Enhancing Material used on the creping cylinder is described and claimed. This method involves adding an inert fluorescent tracer to said Performance Enhancing Material and then to use a fluorometer to look for the tracer on the creping cylinder, and/or on the creped tissue product and/or in the water removed from the felt.

    摘要: A non-oil-based release aid used in a creping process for releasing a paper web from a Yankee dryer in the manufacture of a paper product having a formula for its block version as follows: R—(OC3H6)y(OC2H4)zOH; where R is a C8 to C20 alkyl or alkylaryl group, y plus z is greater than 20, and y is greater than z. The y moles of propylene oxide (OC3H6) and the z moles of ethylene oxide (OC2H4) may be added in random or block fashion. Examples of the chemical compound for the release aid are alkoxylated alkylphenols, alkoxylated fatty acids, and alkoxylated alcohols. A preferred chemical compound is an alkoxylated tall oil fatty acid. The release aid may optionally comprise from about 0% to about 20% by weight of an emulsifying surfactant. The release aid may comprise 70% to 100% by weight of the chemical compound, 0% to 20% by weight of emulsifying surfactants, and 0% to 10% by weight water. The release aid provides lubrication between the doctor blade and the Yankee dryer; allows the release of the paper web from the Yankee dryer, and improves the absorbency of the paper product.

    摘要: A creping adhesive for applying to a creping surface in the process for dry creping tissue and or towel paper is disclosed. The adhesive comprises a blend of at least two water-soluble cationic polyamide-epihalohydrin (PAE) resins. The first PAE resin has a mole ratio of epihalohydrin to secondary amine groups of the polyamine ranging from about 0.5:1.0 to about 1.8:1.0; and the second PAE resin has a mole ratio of epihalohydrin to secondary amine groups of the polyamine less than 0.5:1.0. The weight percent of the solids in the admixture or blend in an aqueous solution ranges from about 40% to about 0.01% solids, wherein the solids in this admixture are comprised of from about 0.1% to about 50.0% by weight of the first PAE resin and from about 99.9% to about 50.0% by weight of the second PAE resin. Varying the percentages of the two PAE resins in the creping adhesive can produce desired levels of adhesion and water resistance for given grades of tissue and/or towel paper products.
